About iJobExchange
iJobExchange is a free job and talent exchange for the IBM i community — the platform also known as AS/400, iSeries and System i. It is the successor to the ALL400s hiring board, rebuilt as a two-sided market: candidates post profiles, employers post openings.
Why it works differently
The old board asked people to describe themselves with a short list of job titles, so the real information ended up in free-text fields as unsearchable strings like"Infor XA, IBS-ASW, RPG, SQL, IFS, DB2, EDI". Adding more checkboxes wouldn't have fixed that; nobody fills in a hundred of them honestly.
So the controlled vocabulary here is deliberately tiny — it covers only the hard requirements a match score cannot reason about. Everything else you write in prose, and the matching is semantic: the model already knows RPGLE, RPG IV and ILE RPG are the same thing, so no one has to maintain a list of synonyms and no one has to guess which word you used.
Free
No fees for candidates or employers, no plans, no card. The board is run as part of the ALL400s community.
Fair
Ranking people with a model deserves care, so the protections start with not collecting the data: no age, no photo, no graduation year, no dates at all. Experience is banded and capped so a twelve-year veteran and a forty-year veteran look identical. The full reasoning is on the privacy page.
